Support this Worthy Initiative and Benefit Yourself!

pcwlogoThe Pinelands Creative Workshop Meals on Wheels Program was developed to provide a systematic way to provide assistance to the elderly, shut ins and disabled members of the Pinelands and neighbouring communities on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Program, which was officially launched on 7th September 1997, provided meals for 23 residents. At present it provides meals to 53 residents or 23 households, some residing in the Pinelands and others from Vauxhall, Brittons Hill, Mt Friendship, Deacons, Bartlett Tenantrv. and Martindale’s Road.

The Program has also expanded to accommodate a food hamper distribution service for those families who are living in abject poverty but can ably prepare for themselves. This segment of the program accounts for six families, equating to twenty recipients. In total the program supports approximately seventy-three persons.

Due the instability of donor support, the Pinelands Creative Workshop, in an effort to maintain the program, has looked towards the establishment of sustainable initiatives to provide additional support to the Meals on Wheels Program. The Pinelands Creative Workshop has been able to establish a Chicken Rearing Program which has been met with considerable support from the community and some small and medium size businesses. The Chicken Rearing Program produces home grown chickens at an average of 600 birds every 6 to 8 weeks.

We would like to invite members of BARP to purchase chickens in support of the Meals on Wheels Program in an effort to continue to pay volunteers a stipend for their contribution and continue to provide meals on a weekly basis to our elderly, disabled and shut ins.

To this end, we would like to offer all BARP members a rate of $4.OO per lb when they place their order with cash on delivery. Additionally. The Pinelands Creative Workshop considers this as an initiative where the elderly will be supporting the elderly and therefore will provide free delivery of all orders.

Please feel free to contact Sophia Greaves at 426-1157, 233-4182 or via email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. BARP urges members to take advantage of this offer and to support the excellent work of the Pinelands Creative Workshop, who set such a good example of how we can restore our communities.

Word has also reached BARP that Pinelands run a fantastic lunch menu Thursdays to Saturdays 11am - 2pm at the Workshop.  Great home-made take-away food at reasonable prices.  The perfect way to enjoy local food ready prepared whilst supporting the great community work done by this innovative group.  Give it a try!
