During a BARP Media Team meeting earlier this year, PR and Marketing Executive Peter Boyce announced, “It’s time BARP had its own song!” The idea was met with unanimous support, and so Boyce approached music producer Darron Grant of Underground Music and set the wheels in motion. The song was co-written by Rameses Browne and BARP’s own Michael Goodman, and the team asked Mark Lord to perform the vocals. Once the main track had been recorded to the satisfaction of all concerned, Carolann Scantlebury worked with producer Grant on the completion of the final version of the song.
The extremely catchy calypso melody is enjoying tremendous popularity with airplay on the radio stations of both networks, and performances at BARP and other social events. Amongst its rousing lyrics, the song celebrates older people as, “Bold, Active Resourceful, Proud” (a deliberate play on the letters of BARP) and reflects the feelings of many people aged 50 and over in
From the outset, the idea was to help change the many negative perceptions of older people and prove that they are indeed “able and strong” as well as “Bold Active Resourceful and Proud”.
