Winter 2009/10 issue of Fifty Plus a hit!

The Winter 2009/2010 issue of Fifty Plus magazine was met with a chorus of approval from BARP members. Particularly popular was the tribute to the late Kathleen Drayton.  "I was determined not to allow the cover or the story on the late BARP President to be an obituary," says Fifty Plus Editor Michael Goodman, "and I feel that what we achieved would have made Kathleen smile."  Goodman was delighted with the photo on the cover.  "We were lucky to discover a picture taken by photographer Felix Kerr during the finale of the 2007 BARP concert at Frank Collymore Hall which captured everything we were hoping to convey about Kathleen, and the story written by her close friend, Carlyle Best, was just what we wanted."

Amongst many other features and articles that have proved popular is a heart-rending account of living with a sufferer of Alzheimer's disease, a revealing expose on Elder Abuse, a fascinating interview with three eminent men of the church in Barbados and the publication of the winning essays in a BARP Schools competition.

And speaking of competitions, there was an easy to enter competition with a fantastic prize of an all inclusive holiday in St. Lucia, courtesy of Liat Airlines and Almond Resorts which is unfortunately no longer open to entries.  With lots more informative and entertaining features and articles, this issue of Fifty Plus is a must read for those who have not already enjoyed its contents.

Non-BARP members and members wishing additional copies can buy them at Cloister Bookstore at Sheraton Centre, Days Bookstore in Independence Square, Biway Books at Grantley Adams Airport and the BARP Office in Collymore Rock.  Price, a mere BDS$10.
