The Barbados Association of Retired Persons Inc. (BARP) recently participated in the Biennial Diaspora Conference "Barbados Network Consultation 2012", organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre from August 7-10. Executive Manager of BARP, Alphea Wiggins-Rock did a well-received presentation on the “History and Analysis of the Organisation”. The presentation included the benefits of joining the Association and the implementation of the new administrative structure which complements the existing volunteer pool.
BARP’s participation included a well-crafted display booth as part of the exhibition, highlighting photographs of the past Presidents and memorabilia of the organisation. There was branded merchandise available for sale to BARP Members and the general public. Among the items were key rings, t-shirts, umbrellas, gym towels, mugs and pens. Registration forms were also available which allowed potential members to make queries and to sign up immediately to become part of this vibrant body.
On the second day of the conference the Hon. Prime Minister, Freundel Stuart visited the BARP booth and was very impressed with what he observed, others who visited the booth were equally so, thus making BARP’s contribution to second Diaspora Conference a rousing success.
