It is hard to believe that BARP has been in existence for 15 years. Formed in 1995 and starting with 197 members, the Association has grown to become one of the largest NGO's in the region with around 25,000 members and a packed diary of events and campaigns to improve the lives of its members and indeed all those aged over 50 in Barbados. To celebrate this milestone birthday, BARP has formed a special 15th Anniversary Committee, headed by Hazel Norville, and collectively, the committee has come up with a dazzling array of events in October 2010 to co-incide with the original formation of the Association which also took place in the month of October.
Sunday 3rd October - 15th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service
A 15th Anniversary Ecumenical Service will be held at Abundant Life Assembly at 4.30pm. Music will be by The Abundant Life Assembly Steel Orchestra and The Barbados Defence Force Band with the BARP Chorale. All are welcome.
4th - 8th October - Schools Outreach Programme
Visits to secondary schools across the island by members of the BARP 15th Anniversary Committee and other persons addressing students on topics which we think would assist them with their personal development.
Saturday 16th October - Harrisons Cave and Bath Beach picnic
Its a 9.30am start for this great day out visiting the newly refurbished Harrison’s Cave followed by a picnic at Farley Hill National Park. Tickets now available from the BARP office priced just $55. Drinks and ice will be provided.
Wednesday 20th October - Health Day
” WELLNESS FROM HEAD TO TOE” FREE Health Day - 9.30am to 5pm at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre. Those wishing to join us for a lunch buffet on the premises costing just $45 should call the BARP office no later than Friday 15th October to register.
Saturday 23rd October - Walking Tour
Rise early, be fit and enjoy our walking tour of the Garrison Savannah and environs in the company of like minded BARP members. Starting at 5.45am. Refreshments will be served.
Sunday 24th October BARP 15th Anniversary Concert
Put this date in your diary right now! This special concert to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of BARP will be held at the Plantation Garden Theatre on Sunday 24th October 2010 at 4pm. A great line up of entertainment is promised and food and drink will be available to make sure you thoroughly enjoy this celebratory event. Tickets will be on sale nearer the time at just $45.
